The Challenge

For multicultural and newly arrived migrant mothers, systemic language limitations, settlement stress, and intensive domestic responsibilities often lead to extreme, unaddressed social isolation. Because traditional clinical mental health services carry a heavy cultural stigma within many CALD communities, creative expression serves as a gentle, trusted, and stigma-free entry point to establish community connection and restore mental wellbeing.

The Strategy

At Tawasul Foundation, we believe that connection isn't just a goal it is our absolute promise. On the 20th of October 2025, we hosted "Finding Your Voice: A Creative Writing Workshop for Mums," an initiative sponsored by Australia Post designed to build a non-clinical, creative sanctuary for isolated women in our community. Below is an overview of the real-world impact this pilot achieved, captured directly from the handwritten feedback of the mothers who stepped into the room.

In Their Own Words: True Lived Experience

"Being around women from different backgrounds and different ages made me feel inspired.

— I loved that every woman had a different view to share"

Other mothers expressed leaving the session feeling "Much Creative" , experiencing an injection of "excited energy" , feeling "more in touch with other women" , and feeling deeply motivated to grow, writing that they felt "very Passionate to continue learning".
