Finding Your Voice: Empowering Mums Through Creative Writing

Finding Your Voice Empowering CALD Mums Through Creative Writing

At Tawasul Foundation, we believe that every story matters. On 29 October 2025, we had the joy of hosting Finding Your Voice: A Creative Writing Workshop for Mums, a warm and welcoming space designed especially for women from diverse backgrounds. Together, we explored the power of words, shared laughter, and discovered the confidence that comes from putting pen to paper. Sponsored by Australia Post.

The workshop was beautifully led by Ashleigh Paholek, Founder of TIER Society, whose gentle guidance created an atmosphere of trust and encouragement. From the moment everyone arrived, the room buzzed with connection. What made the day truly special was the interactive spirit.

The feedback spoke volumes. In our post-workshop survey, participant after participant wrote that they now feel confident with themselves to write and have a voice. One mum shared:
“Being around women from different backgrounds and ages made me feel inspired.”
Another said:
“I loved that every woman had a different view to share”

These words remind us why we do what we do. For many women, daily life can feel like a whirlwind of responsibilities with little space for self-expression. Programs like Finding Your Voice bridge that gap, offering tools for empowerment while strengthening community bonds. When women feel heard, families thrive, and our shared Australian story becomes richer.

We’re incredibly grateful to Australia Post for sponsoring this workshop, and to every mum who brought her courage and creativity to the room. Moments like these show the magic that happens when we come together with respect, openness, and a shared belief in each other’s potential.

Missed this one? Stay connected! We’re already planning more workshops to keep building these bridges. Because at Tawasul, connection isn’t just our name – it’s our promise!
